APUSH Textbook

No. I don't think so.

I used American Pageant and REA. Beware, though, American Pageant is all sorts of cornyness.

"With that pistol Burr blew out the brightest brains of the federalist party" or something like that.

At this point, I deny the use of textbooks for history. There are a lot of good survey books on US history that you can read and get more out of it.

I recommend going to a museum.

enduring vision was decent. there were some paragraphs about prostitutes in theatres luring wealthier men. and the statement "an orgy of speculation" no seriously, that book was pretty good.

We used American History: A Survey by Brinkley. Ew. I hate that book.

We used the AMSCO review book too. This book is amazing. Get it.

I second AMSCO. If you are self-studying, AMSCO is all you need. You can get Pagent, but it can be excessive at times.AMSCO is beyond a prep book; it's like on totally different level...But the only negative part is the practice test; it is not similar to the mc part of the nat'l exam. Use Princeton Review for tests bc they are more similar to the actual exam. And have fun!! Since you are self-studying a history course, you must be passionate about it.

I second deenierah--we used American Nation by Garraty, 10th edition or something like that. It also has a website. The full text isn't online, but there are summaries and practice quizzes and a glossary. Helpful for last-minute APUS homework... :)
