I'm surprised a thread for this hasn't been made yet.

So post any advice, questions, resources, etc.

To make it more convenient.

So any predictions for this year's DBQ and FRQ topics?

So any predictions for this year's DBQ and FRQ topics?

Thanks for starting a thread!
What review techniques are you using in these last few days?
I’ve been skimming through the book, making flashcards, etc.

I’m trying to cram AMSCO and Crash Course. Cramming AMSCO Monday and Tuesday, then cramming Crash Course Wednesday and Thursday.

I’m going to go out on a limb, and say the first half of the 20th century for a DBQ. It’s been a while since there’s been anything in that era, and it seems ripe for a DBQ. Study WWI, WWII, the progressives/populists, and the 20s/30s. It’ll probably come in handy (if not for a DBQ, then a FRQ for sure).

Ugh I’m reviewing on my own and I just did Fetterman/Chivington Massacre, last of Native American stuff, etc. Had a BC review session last night, counties for track tomorrow but I’m gonna try to get up to/into the Gilded Age tomorrow night ■■■. Reading as much of AMSCO as I can, and then maybe reading a Cram Packet, definitely reading Crash Course. I feel screwed but I hope I can pull off a 4 or 5.

What is the Fetterman/Chivington Massacre? Uh oh…I’m screwed.

straight princeton review reading and practice tests. not too worried about it

I posted this in another thread, but I figure its worth posting here seeing as this is now the “official thread.”

Anyways, I took it last year and got a 5. My thoughts:

I honestly didn’t start studying for it until the Monday before the test (meaning, yesterday). I stayed home one day and read this small little review booklet that was much more detailed than my Barron’s book. I used that to go over everything. I then took every single practice multiple choice test my Barron’s book came with, even the ones on the accompanying CD. I took practice tests up until 9PM the night before the test. That made me much more comfortable with the type of questions they ask and with timing myself as well. I was lucky in that my practice tests ended up being very similar to the real deal, which isn’t always the case with review books.

Basically, be FAMILIAR with everything, but you DON’T have to know every detail about everything to get a five (I honestly knew little about like 40 years of American History after the Civil War, particularly the Industrial Revolution, trusts, etc ; what I did know was vague in my head), you just need to be familiar enough with a lot of the material so that you can make correct inferences, be able to eliminate wrong choices, and form solid enough arguments. Also, be able to connect things together; the AP exam is as much about relationships between things and themes transcending eras as much as it is about cold facts and definitions.

And lastly, on your essays, don’t just regurgitate what you know about the topic at hand. Form your own opinion, analyze the history, and then back it up with facts. Again, it’s not about dishing out what you learned, but about how you use it to support an argument. The more breadth to the argument, the more info you can dish out.

Good luck to all! I think you’ll find this exam to be easier than expected. My class certainly did and we weren’t particularly motivated mind you.

It’s gunna be intense, i’ve just started studying…not good lol im reaching for a 4

Ehh I’m taking it. I guess I’ll start reviewing tomorrow after calc then some more Thursday night

Does CRASH COURSE HELP???

I started my studying today, and IM PLANNING TO FINISH READING THIS BOOK TONIGHT. I will read it once more, before moving on to AMSCO.

Does anybody have released exams and answers?

[AP Central - The AP United States History Exam](<a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board)

those are all released FRQ’s and sample responses

My class is a complete joke, but I somehow manage to score around high 50’s to low 60’s for the MC. I know I’m not a bad DBQ/FRQ writer because my teacher doesn’t give out auto 100’s on them, but gives kinda high grades, so I’m thinking 5’s and 6’s on those. Which I guess overall is a 5. I consider myself lucky because there will probably be only 3-4 5’s max coming out of my class, although I hope I’m wrong and there’s more.

I’m just going to finish the AMSCO (half way through) and then cram the Crash Course and I’ll be done. I would also recommend for anyone taking it next year to have CNN on in the background sometimes because they often reference past administrations in the modern era (FDR onwards), which was very helpful for me for remembering some things in the back of my head.

haha my class never did a single essay, or practiced a single multiple choice exam. still shooting for 5

tmanneopen’s point about watching shows like CNN is true. I watched most of the 2008 Election on TV, and have been a casual viewer of CNN/BBC and similar news channels. That’s helped me a lot in US history, especially with recent administrations like Bush, Clinton, and Reagan. They also use terminology that you might see on the exam.

I’ve learned more from this teacher’s review videos than I have in class: [YouTube - awaizy’s Channel](http://www.youtube.com/user/awaizy)

My prediction: In the last ten years there has not been a DBQ dealing with pre- American Revolution or Foreign policy from 1890 -1929. The last couple of years has been mostly a focus on Social History.

Can it please be on causes for Civil War. I’m sensing it has to do w/ immigration or women’s rights.

how should i study for a five. i currently miss about 20 on the multiple choice, and am expecting three 5s on the writings.
