APUSH vs SAT II

How are the questions in terms of difficulty between the SAT II and APUSH?

I just took the AP Exam friday and the SAT II the week before. If anything, I found the SAT II to be slightly more challenging. If anything, I would say the SAT II questions are broader - the AP course trained me to focus in different areas. It's hard to say exactly the question types. What I noticed was the amount of pictures/diagrams/charts. Maybe even about 1/10 is made up of that stuff...the AP just had 1 or 2 diagrams and pics.

To prepare for the SAT II in June I would buy the sparknotes SAT II review guide....I have tried just about every other review book and sparknotes just gets it across with the right amount of detail. Also the review book gives you 3 practice exams online and in the book. Online it gives you full breakdown of your problem areas etc.

If you are shooting for an 800 like I was, go for the Barron's AP flashcards as well. Although the SAT II doesn't focus on Ap material, detailed questions do pop up.

Good luck! It's one of the most study-able exams there is, you got lots of time.

I personally thought the SAT was more specific

i thought the sat was harder than the ap test.. did others find it this way too? ap us, with enough review, its not too bad..

STLFan - i found that as well. Alot of the questions were straightforward while a few others were just crazy on the detail, further than AP.

personally, I find ushis only subject which sat is more difficult than ap. (idk about the language tests)

the us history sat II is really easy if you take it in may, right before or after the ap test. at least I thought it was really, really easy. taking it in june might be tougher though.

same here, I thought USH was mad easy for SAT II until I took the AP and it was...even easier LOL!

Dont get sparknotes, it sucks at predicting your score. Just use REA and collegeboard practice tests.

i took the AP us test on friday and the SAT 2 on may 5th. i agree, the SAT 2 definately had more pictures, quotations, stuff like that.

yeah, the sat 2 was more specific, but i also thought that is what made it easier. the general trend i have had throughout all of APUSH was that the questions are very broad and u have to know very random facts about random events, trends or eras. in that sense, it makes the test much more difficult in that you must know everything.

the SAT 2 was more specific, which made it easier to answer the questions. also, the questions they asked were of less caliber than the AP tests.

there were a few questions on the SAT 2 that i had to leave blank because i didnt know the answer, but there were many more on the APUSH test that completely caught me by surprise, asking random details about things that i hadnt the slightest clue.

p.s. - and just so that u dont take me for an idiot, i took 2 practice a practice SAT 2 US Hist and got 770. i also took the 1996 and 2001 college board AP tests for mult choice and scored a 5 on both tests.

The SAT II in history was ultra specific asking questions regarding books and such and of course i took it the week before the AP exam and in the time between the SAT II and the AP exam i covered 1945-1980 sooo i had missed out on a lot, but it's also nice having the essay section to get some extra points

definitely thought that the sat II was much harder...there are a few excellent websites that cover everything from 1400-Reagan (or later) that i would suggest checking out as well.
