I have really enjoyed being associated with the Aquinas House on campus. It is a great little community with lots of great activites for Catholics. Check it out when you tour the campus.

Dartmouthgrad11, what exactly have your experiences been like? I am Catholic and applying to Dartmouth ED and I've wondered about religious life there. I am not strongly religious, but I figure that for spiritual life (going to church, etc.) would be more noticeable in its absence than in its presence. So what has Dartmouth's Catholic community done for you?

I would be interested in hearing similar about Episcopal services and learning more, like copefan5, about the religious and spiritual life at Dartmouth through programs like the William Jewett Tucker Foundation.

How central on Sunday are services in Rollins Chapel?

when i went to visit dartmouth i visited the episcopal center (its called the Edgarton House) , a little house across from the campus. i met with a dartmouth grad who runs a lot of the events and such. there is lots to be invovled with there.

I could put you in touch with an Episcopalian I know - he's actively involved with the Episcopalian church here, from what I understand.

I'm Christian but haven't attended any church services here yet. Of all the Christians I know, though, none of them attend a main service in Rollins, although several attend a Sunday night prayer service there. Most Christians I know worship in churches off-campus, usually a two to five minute drive away.

I don't know how secular Dartmouth is compared to other schools in its class, but I've definitely found that probably a vast majority of the students are not religious, even those in groups normally correlated with religiosity (read: conservatives). If you are Christian/religious but don't attend religious services regularly, you will not stand out very much, if at all.

ooo, thanks so much for posting this! I'm Catholic and having a strong community in college is pretty important to me. I visited the Aquinas House website, but couldn't really get a sense of how acitive/energetic the Catholic group is. Good to hear that it's got a strong presence!
