This "brag" is somewhat off-topic, but I just couldn't resist shouting it out.

My DD (HS Jr.) found out yesterday that she has been chosen for Arkansas Governor's School this summer, which is located at Hendrix. (Although not actually affiliated with the college.) She will spend 6 weeks there - living in a dorm, eating in the Hendrix cafeteria, and participating in classes & activities at Gov. School. I am sooooooo hoping that living on the Hendrix campus will be a positive experience for her and will help solidify her college choice.

ArkansasMom, that is wonderful news! I bet she will absolutely love Governor's School. My DD attended Tennessee Governor's School for International Studies last summer and absolutely loved it. She made what I am sure will be lifelong friends. Several of her friends from GS have visited since last summer and three are coming to stay with us during Easter weekend. I credit Governor's School with an increase in her independence, and the with the acceptance that DH and I will survive when DD leaves for college. Please pass on my congratulations to your DD!

Yes, it will be a good trial period for me to see how I will cope without her at home for an extended time!
