Arcadia or Molloy/CAP21

Hey all!
Trying to decide what college to go to this fall! I went to the Unifieds auditions and auditioned for 9 schools and got into the following:

Arcadia, BFA Acting
Molloy/CAP21 BFA Theatre Arts
Marymount Manhattan, BA Theatre Arts
Rider, BA Theatre Arts

I believe my top choices are Molloy and Arcadia, I was not a huge fan of Rider and I have heard only okay things about MM. I can’t decide between the two. One thing about me is that I love learning- diversity, insightfulness creativity and ability to minor in something not related to theatre are all things that come with Arcadia, and it just feels right. Also, the belief that to be a good actor you must be a good person. It feels like going to Arcadia will better me as a human and it will be a good experience. The acting program is good but not as famous as the training from CAP21. CAP21/Molloy would give me more connections in the NY theatre world and a better chance for a job in theatre. It would be right near the city so there would be plenty to do on weekends and I"ve heard that the training is great. Molloy is a smaller campus which I like as well. Though I have never visited, the vibe of the school does not pull me in as much as arcadia though it is better known for theatre (and I got a great scholarship). Any advice on picking? Community is important to me, learning, good theatre (but more about in-depth work and less a bout technical work if that makes sense.) Help please? Thanks all!

Hey Becca- As Mary Dennard says- Price, Program, People, Performance. And I would personally place “Fit” (not a P, I know) highest above all. Those are the things you should “use to choose”. Sounds like Arcadia is the program that speaks to you most. This is one of those situations in which I believe that you have to go with your gut (and heart). Best of luck choosing!

“Phit” ?

It sounds like you’re leaning towards Arcardia, but I think you should visit both campuses and also communicate with heads of the program (and/or other faculty) and current MT students. That, either way, you can make a more fully informed decision and feel solid in whichever you decide. You still have time to dig deeper!

^Totally agree- Visiting will help to determine what you want in a program and the “fit”!

My family decided that I will not be able to visit. I may go to Molloy and then transfer if I don’t like it because this is a once in a lifetime opportunity- they don’t accept transfers!

^This makes me sad. I wish you could visit and hope that whatever decision you make- I pray it is the one that fits you the best. Throwing all the luck/prayers your way Becca. (Or should I say Meg).
