I originally posted this in the Theatre/Drama Majors area of the forum, but I thought I’d post it here too for good measure to see if anyone had any input.
I was recently accepted into Arcadia’s Acting BFA with their new MT concentration, and it basically is my front runner at this point. I was soo sure, but my overthinking side is starting to get to me. The acting training seems wonderful and the students speak highly of it, but is it an overall well-regarded program? And the school itself, I know it’s small and not a party hard school, and that it’s known for study abroad, but is it a well-regarded school in general? A lot of school-review sites I’ve found seem to put it in a “pretty good” category, but those few “this school is terrible don’t even think about coming here” (in regards to the school as a whole, not the acting program) always worm their way into my brain. I want to go to a good school, not just a “meh” school with a great theatre program. Should I just take those comments with a grain of salt? I’m planning on seeing a musical there next month so I can see what their productions are like, but can anyone give their opinion on what they think the quality of training is compared to some other schools? Specifically I guess would be Viterbo’s BFA in Acting which is another acceptance I have. Also, this is one of the bigger things, I can’t seem to find much about their alumni success? Is this something I should be worried about? I want to act in some realm professionally someday, so should not knowing specifics about alumni success in the professional scene be a red flag? Any input would be appreciated.
