Does anyone have any information or experience with the archdiocesan scholarship? I received a letter about in along with my acceptance that said I was eligible, and I’ve been trying to find out as much as I can from their website. They said I would get a phone call on March 16 if I had been selected to interview for it. I know it’s a long shot, but I’m still hoping…
Thanks!

D received scholarship notification today for the Alumni Grant and merit $ totalling 17K/year, but no mention of the Parish Scholarship (diff than Archdiocesan Schol) - did anyone receive info that they got this? Its 3K a year.

My daughter received her scholarship notification. It included $1K Alumni Grant, $3K Parish Scholarship, and $13K CUA Scholarship. Helmarmom, did you send in the form with your pastor’s signature for the Parish scholarship?

Info on the Archdiocesan Scholarship:
From the website, there are 5 full tuition scholarships and the minimum requirement is 1450 SAT (M and CR), 3.8 GPA, and top 10% of class. When we visited, the woman from Admissions said they typically have about 100 applicants who qualify and are notified in their acceptance letter that they are being considered. She gave no info on how the 5 are chosen from this group of eligible students.

Artnyc, no way to know how many qualified this year, but maybe your shot isn’t as long as you think. Good Luck to you! My daughter had SAT=1430 and retook it specifically to try to eke out another 20 points for this scholarship. She ended up doing a little worse on all parts. Oh well.

Unfortunately I let my pastor send it in - which he made a point of telling D he did. Oh well guess I need to wait till Tues to check with his office & CU to see where the problem lies. Thanks for the response.

Son received 18K scholarship today. Still have to send in our parish recommendation. Don’t know if that will be subtracted from the 18 or not. Very happy with the offer. Getting ready to work on the FAFSA.

compared to other schools, are offers of 18K+ more or less common? besides the archdiocesan, does cua offer any merit aid over 20k?

thanks!

I’m wondering the same thing. My SAT is 2100 (retaking in Oct.), I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA and really good extracurriculars (founding debate team at my school, president of honor society at my local state college). I’m really interested in CUA but it wouldn’t be possible without a substantial merit scholarship.

18K for merit $ is a very good offer. It sounds like this is $ w/out consideration to finanacial need which may end up increasing the amount. That being said it still maybe too expensive for you.

You have great grades, if you want a free or almost free ride, do consider a school which your scores would be well above the average. High Point University, Elon, Clemson all beautiful & their starting tuition+rm/bd is $36K. Add scholarships & you could be going for $20- $25k . It’s hard to work your expenses down to a manageble number when you start at $48K.

Well I took the SAT again and got a 1460/2190 so hopefully that helps. I’m from the south, I don’t want to go to school here.

I saw that your son received $18k in merit scholarship $ from Catholic. Do you mind telling me his stats i.e., SATs, ACT, GPA, class rank etc. Just trying to see where my D1 fits on the scale. Thanks alot.

Hi, has anyone on this post received the Archdiosean Scholarship this year for Catholic University?
