Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me. For the past, I'd said 2 years, I've wanted to become a structural engineer. So I always planned on going for a BS in civil and then doing a concentration in structural for my MS. That's what my mentor did and I thought that would be a good idea. My main interest is buildings. I really have no desire to do anything with roads. Maybe down the line bridges but my main focus will definitely be buildings. Recently however, I heard of archiectural engineering which from what I grasp just focuses on buildings. Is that what I should be getting my degree in? I know a lot of schools don't have that program and I know my top two schools definitely don't (RPI and Manhattan.) I already am garunteed at least $60,000/4 years for RPI so I don't know if I should be going around changing my major at this point (I'm going into my senior year.) Will having a BS in civil and a MS in structural make me more rounded and give me a better chance of getting a job or switching companies down the road? I'm very strong in math which is why I want to do engineering as opposed to architecture. Also, anyone have suggestions of schools for either degree. I have a list of about 20 that needs to be significantly lowered.
