Architectural Engineering Questions.

Hello all,

I'm trying to get in touch with someone who majors in Architectural Engineering or someone familiar with the program from a student perspective. I've already contract the department to answer most of my questions regarding the program.

I just have a few more.

My son is an AE major (3rd year) - so I can try to answer your questions. Also, 1moremom will also have information, so I hope she sees this.

What questions do you have?

I’ve contacted the advisor Moses Ling who answered some questions of mine. However I was curious what sort of classes prospective AE students take Freshman year. Also, what kind of lifestyle they generally have in terms of sitting at a desk or being on site. I’m hoping to go on the Construction track within AE.

I’m pretty excited to visit the department in February.

Dr Ling is the best person to talk to. He was quite helpful when we met with him before DS applied. Answered all our questions quite well.

The AE curriculum is pretty structured and everything is spelled out.
[Penn State Department of Architectural Engineering](http://www.engr.psu.edu/ae/advising/index.asp)

Basic freshman courses are Calc I and II, Physics (Mechanics), Chemistry, English, AE Orientation, and E-Design (Architectural Graphics). Then general ed type stuff.

haha My luck would have it that as soon as I posted this Dr. Ling sent me the same link with an excel spreadsheet for the entire AE track from the first to the tenth semester.

Thank you for your help :)

What option is your son going to study?

Not sure he has decided on an option, but I haven’t asked him in while. Will do so…
