I am an incoming freshman this fall at a public university and am majoring in architecture. I want to get into architectural engineering. Is that a good idea?

Engineering requires a lot of fundamentals in applied math and physics that you might not get in a design-oriented architecture program. I would check with your program’s curriculum to see if it’s a legitimate path. It’s easier to transfer out of engineering than to try to get in it, but if you’re looking to become a certified engineer in most states you’ll need an engineering degree and not an architecture degree. It depends on what you’d like your career path to be
