I can see on the Columbia website that an architecture major is offered. However, it seems to weirdly straddle both Barnard College and Columbia College. It was my understanding that Barnard's is a woman's school; does that mean that only women can get into the architecture major? I am a guy interested in architecture, so this makes a big difference as to whether or not I'll even apply to Columbia.

Barnard & Columbia operate in partnership – the architecture major is housed at Barnard, and is open to students at both schools who want to major in architecture. Although Barnard is a women’s college, almost all courses are open to students at all undergraduate colleges at Columbia (there are 4 in all). Several other specialty majors are housed at Barnard.

Keep in mind that this is a liberal arts major and leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree – it is not a professional degree program.

YOU need to apply to Columbia.-- Barnard only admits women.

To major in architecture, you would work through Columbia - you would have to complete the Columbia Core like all other students. However, most of your major courses would be taken at Barnard. However, “at Barnard” simply means that the classrooms are located on the Barnard campus, directly across the street from the Columbia buildings. You would follow the same process for course enrollment as for any other courses at Columbia, as the course selection and enrollment process is fully integrated.

No, there are many males on the Barnard campus, attending classes & using the facilities. Just no biological males enrolled as Barnard students.
