I would like someone to tell me if I would be able to get in for Architecture for RD.

Out of State
GPA - 3.89
ACT - 35 (maybe 36, I took the most recent ACT)
Architecture classes in high school for 3 years
Some work experience
National Merit Semifinalist / Finalist

Extracurriculars dont really matter at Cal Poly from what I have heard, but I have a few:

Football / Track
National Honor Society
Big Brothers
Freshman / Junior Retreat Leader

According to http://www.ess.calpoly.edu/_admiss/Pdf/profile10_090409pdf.pdf

You are:
-Below in GPA, most likely by .2 to .3 gpa points… Arch is probably around 4.1-4.3
-Well above on the ACT. Probably 31-32 for Arch majors.

I would say you are going to have a relatively decent chance at being accepted.

4.3???

At my school, the highest possible GPA is 4.0

I have never even heard of a GPA higher than a 4.0

Really? Have you ever taken an “AP” or “Honors” class?

yes. honors in most classes since freshman year, 2 AP classes this year.

and on that guidebook you sent me, it says that architecture is 3.90

Yeah but the guidebook lists the averages for the College of Architecture & Environmental Design. Which includes the majors: Construction Management, City & Regional Planning, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, and Landscape Architecture… Most likely the selected applicants for the Architecture major had higher stats than the selected applicants for the others.

You should look at your grades again, because all grades in AP and Honors classes are given an extra gpa point. For example, if you got an A in “US History Honors”, that grade would count as a 5.0, instead of a 4.0.

You very well might have like a 4.3 + gpa if you arent adding the extra gpa point for your grades.

Have you ever heard the terms “weighted” and “unweighted” GPA?

yes but I dont think my weighting system is the same as yours, if the highest possible is a 4.0

[Whats the difference between weighted GPA and unwieghted GPA? - Yahoo! Answers](http://■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/question/index?qid=20070619001030AAWAlrL)

[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - GPA Calculator](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)

Figure it out dude, you obviously don’t have a clue what your gpa is…

4.26 weighted according to CSU scale.

Sorry

which means my CSU eligibility index is 1202 (1212 if i get the 36)

Yeah so with a 4.26 weighted GPA, and a 35 ACT. I think your in for Architecture, and honestly your chances of getting into any other university in the nation are relatively good.

thanks for your help, i appreciate it

I think I should contact admissions, because I didnt report that GPA on my application
