Architecture in Texas

I'm a freshman undergrad at a CC, looking to transfer into architecture at UT. I got accepted out of high school to other places but I couldn't afford it, and going to UT-Austin has been a childhood dream, so I decided to stick around.

Anyways, I'm worried about my options if I don't get in at UT(Not looking good with GPA maybe being 3.5). What other schools(that I can get accepted into, if UT rejects me) are good options? Are any of the UT schools good options(Arlington or SA)?

Also, how much does it matter in the job market where I get my degree from?

Beyond UT Austin and Rice I think that UT Arlington has the best architecture program in the state. It has historically been a very strong program and I must have at least 10 of their graduates in my firm. It has also been very accommodating to students who have had to work part-time during school.

Other than UTA I think the program at Texas Tech has improved greatly over the last few years and I would consider them to be another good option. UH has been good at times but I have no personal experience there in the last ten years.
