Architecture Major...

Hey Im interested in the architecture program at NEU. I was just looking for any feedback about it. What did you like or dislike about it? Is it super hard? Do you need to be an amazing artist? Also whats a popular minor that goes along with the major?

Any replies would be appreciated!

I’m not an architecture major but my roommate is. Just be prepared for a lot of work and a lot of sleepless nights. You don’t need to be an amazing artist.

You won’t have much time to have a minor…a lot of arch students I know barely have time for a social life.

Bottom line: you have to really love it to be in the program. A lot of kids switch majors after the first semester.

They usually drop down to only 40 students per grade in the major, starting with over 100.

Is there a LLC for architecture students? and if there is which dorm is it usually in?

i have a question, if i’m in CBA, can I take an architecture class as an elective in the arch school? like a basic drawing class?

peetrav: I don’t think that there is an architecture LLC. I know that my roommate really wanted to live in IV because it is closer to the studio.

Ny0rker: If you wanted to, you could, I suppose. I just looked through schedule of classes and there are no restrictions on architecture classes, although a basic drawing class might be offered by the art department instead of the arch dept because I don’t see drawing classes in the architecture dept’s course schedule.

Can someone explain to me what LLC stands for and what they are?

Living-learning center. It means you live with people in a similar major or interest. The theory is that everyone will help each other with problems that other students don’t have to deal with. Examples are honors, engineering, health, community service, international, etc.

as a freshman, can you live in IV if you are not in honors?

^Yep. International and Creative Expressions are here. Comp Sci is too, but is that upperclassmen?
