Architecture program : Cuesta college->Cal Poly SLO and other schools

Hi, I’m thinking of transferring to Cal Poly SLO after 1 or 2 years of studying in Cuesta.
I know that many people have followed this path. But I’m also interested in applying to schools like
Cornell and SCI-Arc… However, since architecture is a professional program, it seems like many people are
being placed as freshman or sophomore after 2 years of studying in former college…(unlike cuesta to cal poly)
Do any of you know someone who have successfully transferred to good architecture school after 1 or 2 years
of studying in Cuesta? or any other CC really… or is Cal Poly and Cuesta exceptional?

Cal poly SLO only takes Junior level transfers (60 semester or 90 quarter units). I do know that transferring into SLO is difficult but coming from Cuesta will help. I would post in the transfer thread also for to get information.

Assume you have posted your question on the architecture major forum too?

Cuesta students have significant advantage over other transfer Arch majors because there is such a strong recognition of Cuesta courses at CP SLO. In fact I understand that some CP SLO Arch professors teach at Cuesta too. It was my daughter’s fallback had she not be accepted into CP SLO.

Cornell is an outstanding architecture school but VERY difficult to be accepted and very expensive. It depends on your Arch study emphasis, financial resources, and current academic stats strength. You may find, as you suggest, to go straight into a 4±year program is your better and cheaper choice in the long run. No substitute for doing your research into the college you would like to attend.
