architecture schools

can someone name off some quality undergrad shools for architecture

bump! i need the info too!

UVA seems to have had a number of successful students come out of thier program. I only personally know two of them, but they speak very highly of it, and are both employed in the field. Might be worth a look.

Choose a National Architectural Accrediting Board accredited program.

Do you mean schools that award a BArch, or do you want to know schools with a program that ends in an MArch?

Check out Architects, AIA, Green Architecture - The American Institute of Architects for more good information on the career of architecture. Great suggestions for sites to look into. Note the differences in the degrees awarded by each school. Some, like UVA, offer a B. S. in Architecture (a 4 yr pre-professional degree- which you would most likely follow with 3 years of grad school to come out with a professional MARCH I) and some offer a BARCH (a 5 yr professional degree).

Pluses and minuses and varying opinions for each option. There was a great thread on this topic in the architecture forum a while ago. Here is the link:

FWIW, I have a son at Virginia Tech in architecture and he is loving it! Great school overall, especially for architecture.

None better than Rice.

thanks everyone!! is getting into any school's architecture program any different than getting into other programs in terms of difficulty, or extra requirements? also, anybody knows some samples for portfolios on the net?
