Hi I have questions regarding transferring out to SLO. I’m attending community college and I’ve bee doing fine. My GPA is like around 3.5.I got all As on my architecture classes. But, I’m not doing well at math and physics. I got all Cs at my calculus 1, physics college 1 and Engineering material classes since I was doing it with my studio classes. Right now, I’m taking Calculus 2 and physics college 2, and doing it really well. I might get an A and B, but since I cannot prove it in my application, I’m worried if I will get considered into the first round or not. I also have few Ws in math and physics, so that’s my second concern. Also, last, I have a high semester units, like more than 100 units. Does this affect my chance of transfer? Most I’m really concerned about my grade in physics and math since I heard SLO really look up your math and physics grade.
I graduated from Cal Poly in architecture about 15 years ago so obviously this advice is “old”, but the architecture department was most interested in “major courses”, including design, and over-all grade point average. Calc. and Physics are “support classes”. They will want you to pass your math and physics classes (and understand the material), but a “C” is passing. So, I would say, do your best in your Calc. and Physics classes, get a tutor or study group, talk with your instructors, etc., but don’t be too stressed about it. Also, you can call the department if you have any questions re. transfer.
