Has anyone applying to architecture at Wash U. been admitted, denied or waitlisted? I'm primarily seeing responses on Engineering, Olin, and CAS.

If admitted, do you mind sharing some stats. and why you think it worked for you?

My daughter was admitted. I can't tell you what in particular made the difference, but I imagine her very nice portfolio (in which she included virtually all of the suggested drawings from the Arch. school brochure except the crumpled paper, because we all kept accidentally throwing away or moving the crumpled paper) and the fact that she visited campus really helped her, in addition to her academic strength.

Congratulations to you and you D! I know a few kids in Architecture and they are very happy to be there, they always say they have to work hard though.

Thank you! That's very kind. She is happy. The architecture programs are demanding everywhere, it seems. An old friend of mine said, "Uh-oh, architorture!" But it also seems that in most programs, because the incoming classes are small, the kids really bond, and she is hoping for that.

My D got accepted at the Art College. Very nice portfolio. It's not Architecture, bit not Engineering, Olin or CAS either

as an architecture major at WU, I can confirm there is an amazing sense of community among those who stick with architecture. i swithced into architecture from art my sophomore year and really appreciated the community and collaborative feel of architecture compared to art (which was more isolated, as you do not have classes with everyone, making it harder to get to know lots of people...this changes junior year though, when students sift into majors and really begin to bond). Architecture is an incredible time intensive and demanding major, but one that teaches great lessons no matter what field you enter after graduation. I had some problems with the administration during my time, but swtiching in was incredibly easy and I know that many of the administration's issues are going to be resolved with our new deans in place.

i got accepted to arch in january (i still dont know why, i applied reg admission and got my acceptance letter 5 days after i sent my portfolio) now i have to decide btwn there and berkeley...ugh
