I have a student that is intereseted in architecture, she has been accepted to a excellent university that does not offer this major. Can she still succeed in this field and if so what types of classes should she take to prepare her.

if she wants to practice architecture, he/she will need to earn a Master of Architecture. However, I believe it takes quite a while to earn the M.Arch.

Or ... he/she can transfer to a school that offers a 5-year Bachelors of architecture. The B.Arch degree is the equivalent to an M.Arch.

This site will tell you about the different ways one can become a practicing archetict. gomestar is right, without a 5-year Barch degree, she will have to go on for a March wich will take several years depending on what her initial degree was in, and after that one must apprentice.

To become a licensed architect one needs a professional degree, either a Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture. Though it's faster to get the BArch (5years), she can go to the other school to do undergraduate study in a different field, and then do graduate work at a school where she can get the MArch (programs generally range from 2-3.5 years). She does not need to have her undergrad degree in architecture in order so receive a MArch.
