So whats the deal with NYU and architecture? Is there an architecture major? Is the Fine Arts major really going to be equivalent to a degree in architecture in the eyes of employers?

I would check that out if I were you, it doesn't seem to involve any engineering, so I would be skeptical. I could be wrong, but definitely look into it.

As far as I know, the only major they have is called "Urban Design and Architectural Studies", and it's part of the department of Fine Arts. You would need to get a Master's Degree at another school to actually become an architect but I guess it would give you some experience with looking at architecture.

So if I were to be an Urban Designs and Architectural Studies major would that stop me from getting into say...The Columbia Graduate School of Architecture? Would they look down on that?

no matter what, if you want to be an architect, you are going to have to go to graduate school anyway...NYU's major is fine...the only way you will not need graduate school is if you go to a vocational architecture school, and there are not many...

And no, Columbia or any other school would not look down on an NYU degree, most architects start out as engineering, math, or even liberal arts majors to begin with....chill out and by the way, Columbia's Architecture Graduate program is actually not all that great, they are better for Studio Art at the Graduate level.
