Just paid tuition last week!
I got the 175 Flex Meals as many of the upperclassmen recommended, but now looking back I'm not sure if roughly 10 meals per week is enough? Especially I'll be there over the weekend and I definitely need good meals to keep myself and my 18 credit schedule going haha.
What do you guys think? Is it going to be enough?
Also how much food/ how many meals would $150 be able to purchase?

i think it mainly depends on you and the way you schedule meals. i had 14 a week my freshman year and i had roughly two meals a day easily and made good use of it. other friends that year had 10 and they did fine as well. i think the reason it worked out is because my friend with the 10 a week plan was good at snacking throughout the day and then having one big meal at the dining hall. i’m the kind of person who needs to eat good-sized meals and can’t go all day without getting hungry/irritated because of hunger.

sophomore year i had 113 flex and i found that i ran out of meals but still did fine because i used my dining dollars to just pay for the meals (at the non-all you can eat dining halls). however i had a lot of dining dollars because i didn’t spend a lot on starbucks (don’t drink coffee) and other snack items. i think 175 should be fine but definitely consider how often you like to eat and if you like to get coffee every morning (dining dollars) and that kind of thing.

If you like to get coffee but dont think you need 2 bigger meals a day…is the 10 meal plan better, since it has more dining dollars?
I feel like I will get more use out of the dining dollars, but I dont want to run out of money for food either. You can use dining dollars in those convieniant stores in the dorms, right? I heard about the one in Rubin, I dont know if there are others.

Bumpppppppppppppp

i don’t know that the 10 a week is necessarily better because obviously you might lose meals at the end of the week if you don’t eat consistently. you could consider trying the 113 flex (which has 250 dining dollars).

i agree that dining dollars are more versatile because you can use them at any of the dining halls. for example at kimmel (to buy food a la carte there or to “pay” for meals that would otherwise cost a meal swipe) or weinstein (upstein has food a la carte and meal options like chick fil a and quiznos, and downstein has a convenient store area). at the front of all of the dining halls are places you can buy drinks and snack kind of items with dining dollars. but what i also did was when my meals ran low (with the 113 flex) was i planned on just “paying” for meal swipes at all-you-can-eat dining halls with dining dollars if i ran out of meals. i never had to do that but i think that is a valid alternative for running out of meals if you have a lot of dining dollars left.
