I have a C- and a C+ on my high school transcript. One is in a college level class that is offered in my school through a partnership program. The other is from a college class I took on the college campus in linear algebra.

Otherwise, my weighted GPA is a 5.6, ACT 32 (recently retook, hoping for a better score), lots of volunteering (Congressional Silver award, working on Gold), lots of extracurriculars, raised $7K for a specific charity, am the co-author of a published paper (scientific research).

How badly will these C's look????? Will they cause me to be rejected???

I know what you want to hear is a “No!” but the fact of the matter is nobody knows. They might be the nail in your coffin, they might not. There’s nothing to do about them now, so you might as well just apply.

students with 2 C’s will have been admitted, denied and waitlisted. so they by themselves don’t tell us anything. so i think saying “will they cause me to be rejected” assumes that without them you would be admitted. that is presumptive. there are many other factors within the application that contribute. that being said - 2 Cs are not necessarily a help in your cause.

hi kiwi, the responses you’ve received are pretty much the full story. if you want anecdotes of kids who have gotten in with 2 C’s, sure, someone could add those. But to the specifics of your question - no, you can’t say for certain that 2 c’s is a death notice and no one on here can say that, heck not even an adcom could tell you that without looking at the rest of your file.
