Are 3 AP classes too hard Junior year? (AP U.S. History, AP Language and composition, AP Psychology)

So, I want to take 3 AP classes during my junior year (AP Psych, APUSH, AP Lang). I want to know if this combination of classes will be too difficult to do as a junior, in addition to accelerated Spanish and Chemistry (these are also referred to as Honors in other schools). I do pretty well in school, but I’m also easily stressed. Although I’m easily stressed, I have taken the hardest classes I can as freshman and sophomore and did fine in those. I’m afraid that I might be doing too much, but I also want to look better to colleges when I apply.

You have to ask around your school and find out the work load of these classes. The work assigned depends on the teachers and not on the curriculum. An easy AP class can be challenging if the teacher assigns crazy amounts of work. At our school APUSH and AP Lang are very manageable while AP psych is a lot of work and the teacher has unreasonable expectations. The test is fairly easy though.

You should be fine. Psych is a joke, AP Lang is one of the easier ones, and APUSH shouldn’t be difficult mentally, just do the reading.

Sure, a lot of kids take 3, others take 4, 5 or even 6 APs junior year, it depends on you.

I’ll say it depends on the teacher, as they decide how much work they want to give out. Generally speaking, AP Psych is the easiest, followed by AP Lang. APUSH shouldn’t be that conceptually difficult, you just have to study.

Are you taking math?
In any case that schedule looks ok, but ask your GC whether you’ll be allowed to “drop down” without the class being mentioned on your schedule.

AP Comp and Lang was the most difficult class my D has taken thru Junior year at her school. It will just depend on your teacher. D’s teacher assigned a ton of reading and a ton of essays, both in-class and homework. Also, while my D didn’t take APUSH, her friends said it was a lot of work as well.

Most people in my school took either AP Capstone Seminar or AP Lit because they were more helpful and they were easier in our school for some reason…

I think that combination is “regular hard”…if you are a good student, you can do it.

I took apush lang and chem and found it to be very manageable. If anything, drop psych as it is seen as an easy A by some colleges.

Do not drop AP Psych because “it is seen as an easy A”…if you do well on the AP test you will get credit for a college class.

That “easy A” does boost weighted GPA and class rank. There is no reason to drop AP Psych, unless there is another AP class that needs to be taken.

AP psych was easy and APUSH wasn’t bad either if you just do the reading and crash course is helpful too.
