Are 3 AP's my senior year too many?

I'm planning on taking AP US History, AP English Language and AP Psychology my senior year. I am a junior now. I am currently taking AP Spanish Literature (Native) and AP English Literature and I'm doing pretty well with A's in both classes. The thing is, I'm not sure if I could handle AP US History, especially since I'm not American and haven't lived in the states (I go to an international school in South America). I heard APUSH in my school is BRUTAL and you can't get more than a C or a B in the class. However... the teacher's average AP score is 4.5. So I am pretty tempted.
Psychology and English I am taking because I love writing and I want to major in psychology.
Would this be GPA suicide? Have you had any experience with any of these classes?

Thank you!

I hope you do realize that half the people here take 8 APs and make it out alive… JUST SAYIN’

And those AP sounds very manageable. Psychology is a joke class. US history requires lots of notes and memorization. And Lang I heard is hard if you are not good in english

Too few. Take more.

AP Psychology is definitely manageable. This is coming form someone who is not one of those insane Ivy hopefuls that take 6 or more at a time. That’s saying something.
AP Lang, I had to work hard to do, because of a learning disability, but I did well grade-wise. If you’re anything like a typical user of this site, you’re smart enough to handle it without too much difficulty.
I never took APUSH, but if the average score on the AP exam in the class is 4.5, then she obviously is doing a good job and you should go for it. However, I have a question: Is this teacher the only one who does APUSH? You may end up with another one if not, and both the harsh grading and the excellent scores could be offset.

I say that’s good enough for you.

I will have taken 14 by the time I graduate…Im pretty sure 3 senior year will be fine

well, everyone on this website is gonna tell you to take more but since it’s your senior year you’re def gonna wanna hang more outside of school with friends. I’m taking 3 myself and I’m in my senior year and senioritis has completely taken control. Already got into my #1 college and I really could not care less about high school haha. During my first 3 years of high school I was so much more into grades than schoolwork but it’s def changed this year. recently a few of my friends and I started choosing one class during the day almost everyday to skip and go to the beach…so yea be aware that senioritis is very real

I (hope) to take at least 12 by the time I graduate, however, I read somewhere that colleges think that 4-5 ap classes for the whole 4 years is a good amount.

As a senior, trust me. You will not want more than 3. I took 4 this year. And when it gets to be April and you’ve already been accepted to college, you will not feel like doing anything. At all. And you will not wanna do homework. And the more homework you have, the less you will want to do it.

3 APs will be manageable. Go for more if you’re willing to challenge yourself. I wouldn’t take any more than 5 APs though.

You’re fine, if three is what you can handle go ahead. At my school APUSH, AP Lang, and AP Psych are all busy work kind of classes.

Are you serious? Take more

Keep in mind that each test is about $87 so you want to be sure you can do well in whichever APs you choose to take. Lang was a bit difficult for me with time constraints especially. USH was totally worth it for me but then again I am a history buff. I’m taking 3 APs this year and I would say they’re all managable.

Yes, he is the only teacher who teaches APUSH.

In my opinion, you should take as many as you can (although it depends a lot on where you want to go for college). HYPS admissions are only going to get more selective, and you are digging yourself in a hole if you take fewer APs. Remember, you are competing against people who take 15+ APs with 4.0 GPAs.
