Are 5 classes too much for a freshman?

I'm going to be a freshman at a community college this fall and I've going to be taking 5 classes:
Biol 196
English 101 (online)
Math 126 (online)
Psy 101 (online)
And a language class.

Most of my classes are online just because it's easier and I don't have a way to get to the college all the time.
So is too much? Especially for a freshman? I know im probably taking a big risk doing this and I should have just taken 4 but I know that a lot of people do this apparently and I want to do it. Im just asking if its doable for a freshman. Have any of you taken 5 classes in your freshman year? If so any advice and stories would be helpful. I guess I just need to esteem to be boosted a little lol. thanks.

yes ~ if you take bio I would suggest taking only 3 classes, same advise if you take a foreign language, or math. If you are at community college to get a solid foundation (which didn’t happen in high school- I have no way of knowing) do not blow your chances right away by getting in too deep

If your reason for being at a CC is primarily financial and you are a student with good work habits, you should be able to do it. 5 courses is not at all uncommon for a first semester. i would be somewhat more concerned with all the online courses you are taking. That takes a great deal of self-discipline to ensure that you actually “attend” the lectures and so on.

I see. And about the classes online. Im not too worried about that simply because my last year of high school was online and I took to classes for college this summer that were online so im not too worried about the self discipline part.

I know I wont be switching down to three classes. I know people that take more than one science and more classes along with those. Going down to three isnt an option for me. I understand the part of not getting in too deep though.

I took Calc I, Chem I, Western Civ I, Intro to Programming, and English my first semester. Wasn’t an issue for me, as I was always on top of my work, so if you are the same way, go for it. If you are just looking to take 5 classes to “get ahead”, you may be in for a world of hurt.
