Are 6 AP classes during my Senior year too much?

Hi, I’m feeling really excited about the classes I want to take my senior year because most of the subjects seem very interesting and fun in retrospect to possible college majors.
I want to take:
AP Lit
AP Calc AB
AP Physics I
AP Gov
AP Psych
AP Macro
I took three AP’s my junior year (AP Lang, APUSH, AP Bio + honors classes and my gpa is in good shape for the schools I want to apply to).
I’m just worried if it’ll be too much to handle. I was alright my junior year with the added pressures of SAT/ACT studying (which I still need to improve upon) + EC’s yet I’m looking for other people’s opinions.

Honestly, your last 5 APs listed are “light” APs compared to some of the harder and more time-consuming ones (e.g. History, Bio, Chem, Physics C, CS), so I think you should be fine, given your junior year APs.

College apps will take a lot of time, though, so try to finish up at least your Common App essays over the summer.

what do you mean @goldbear2020 about common app essays?

There’s a Common App essay that will be sent to all your colleges (except the few that don’t use Common App), and each college may or may not have supplemental essays as well. With a heavy senior AP courseload, you should try to get much of the essay work out of the way during summer.

In terms of difficulty, AP Calc AB and AP Lit should be equivalent to AP Lang and APUSH. AP Bio alone would be more work than AP Gov + Ap Macro. AP Phys 1 is roughly the same as Honors Physics. So really it’s like you have AP Psych as an extra AP and it’s one of the easiest APs (great fun, but in terms of depth or workload, nothing like AP Lang or APUSH  )
In short, you should be fine. Remember that you need to have at least a B in all of those. HOWEVER, ask your guidance counselor right now what the rules are for “dropping down” a level: deadlines, choices (will you drop down to the honors version of the same course, or will you be stuck in whatever class still has space?)

Your Senior AP schedule looks very similar to mine. Mine is:

AP Lit
AP Calc BC
AP Physics C (both Mech and EM)
AP Gov
AP Psych
AP Macro
AP Micro
AP Enviro

Trust me, the 6 APs that you have aren’t bad. The hardest class that you’ll be taking would be AP Lit. Psych is often regarded as the easiest AP, AP Gov/Macro are often regarded as half-APs since they are usually only offered for one semester. AP Calc AB and AP Physics 1 are easy compared to their harder Calc BC and Physics C counterparts.

@ObitoSigma:
why do this to yourself?
Are you a future Psych or Criminology major? If not, drop AP Psych.
Why are you taking APES since you’re taking AP Physics C (both M and EM)?
Both of these look like AP padding - and adcoms really dislike the “everything but the kitchen sink” approach to APs. (Or, as Stanford famously put it “it’s not a game of who has the most Aps, wins”)
If I were you, I’d remove these 2 APs and replace them with other classes that you clearly chose because you’re curious about them or because you’re dedicated to that field.
If you’re genuinely fascinated by Psychology, remove one from these: AP GOv, AP Micro, AP Macro.

Make sure that you have time to work on your college applications! That being said, your AP classes are all on the lighter side in terms of difficulty. AP Lit and Calc AB may require the most time, but everything else should be reasonable if you are productive.
