Our daughter is applying to four schools ed, and four schools later. If she hits submit common app on Schools 1 - 4, can she still tweak the essay for the others, or do they get the main common app form at the same time? We thought when you hit submit, all eight received the same material so was going to move four to an alternate common app, but the directions say that you can't move any until you have submitted at least one so now we are confused!

Hi shoot4moon,

When you hit submit for one school, the main common app is submitted to that single school only. You would have to hit submit for each school individually, and once a version is submitted, you can then set up a different version of the main common app to make corrections if that becomes necessary.

Thank you!!!

I wouldn’t do that, if I were you.

An ED decision is binding if accepted and you can’t have more than one ED application pending at any time. The common app technology will prevent this. All schools with ED require the parents and the applicant to sign a contract regarding the ED requirements. Maybe she is applying EA to four schools? Or ED to one and EA to the others?

OOPS - my mistake. I meant to say Early Decision to one and Early Action to the others.

Thanks for protecting her interests!
