Are all my chances for a "good"college gone?

I am panicking.

I am currently a sophomore at a good public school with an IB program and have gotten no more than 2 b's during a semester ever. I don't really have an Ivy or bust mentality but I would like to go to a relatively good college. I have all A's right now except a C!! in Spanish which is by far my weakest subject and Taking the class was a mistake but it was my only option if i were to go IB. I am class president, on the debate team, in political committee, play baseball, founded film club at my school, in junior ski patrol and on a ski team. I also volunteer here and there around my community (like 15 hours a year). Will this Spanish grade kill me? do i have any chance at all for going to a good college or a "top college"? Also while this is somewhat irrelevant and I think I have basically a 0% chance of getting in even with it, I have a legacy at Princeton. Is that just a Pipe dream at this point?

Oh also my parents say I could transfer to a top private school in i want (they send like 12 kids to ives out of a class of 100) So would that help my acceptance chances at a good college.

And by good college I mean top a top 30 University or liberal arts school

Might as well fill up your McDonalds application now

Just kidding
I can completely understand your worry, because I’m just as paranoid as you are. The truth is, one C is NOT going to kill your application. Adcoms understand no one is perfect. If all the other aspects of your application are strong (ECs, Essays, Recs, leadership, SATs, etc…) the C shouldn’t be too much of a hindrance to you. Just take a deep breath, it’s going to be fine!

First off, do not panic… calm down. One “C” is not going to hinder your chances. My friend was literally in the same type of situation as you. He had a miserable experience with Spanish and he wrote about it in his essay. He was accepted to Cornell, deferred Yale & Princeton, accepted Haverford. You’ll be okay Steptt

Thank you. That’s reassuring to hear.

I don’t want to sound demanding or rude but could anyone give me any insight on switching to a private high school.
And How unrealistic Princeton is (it is my “dream school” emphasis on it being a dream)

(I know I am only a sophomore and this question is pushing it)

Load up on some more ECs if you can. You still definitely have a shot at Princeton! If you can, especially with languages, I would try for immersion. I hit a few B’s sophomore year in French, but after watching movies, reading books (notating for vocab), and starting up a French Cinema club, I got A’s all throughout French 4 Honors (and now AP French as well). No need to worry just yet! Plenty of time for you to improve. Best of luck!

Also enjoy high school and don’t stress about colleges too early. My advice would be to not look at this site again, at least until you’re a senior.

You’re looking good, but you have to understand that the Ivy’s are a crapshoot and anyone could get denied.
