My college list has narrowed itself down somewhat unexpectedly (my parents not wanting to fly to certain places, etc) and I was looking around for programs that might be still taking applications for flute performance. I know Boston Conservatory was accepting them, but I have conflicts with all their regional audition dates... And San Francisco wasn't accepting any either... Does anyone know of any other schools that might take applications?

It would just be really nice to feel like I had a few more options... if everywhere is closed, though, it isn't a big deal.

Also, there was a thread fairly recently about a late Oberlin(?) (maybe Peabody(?)) audition AFTER the May 1 deadline. It’s eluding my search. If someone remembers it, please post a link.

Also, unless your parents are also saying you can’t go even if accepted, some of the long distance ones may take a DVD instead. When DD was auditioning for example, UCLA was a continent away and would have accepted the DVD. The live audition was only required for those living within a specified number of miles. Although I don’t understand including both SF and Boston as acceptable. Have you checked with the ones that came off your list to see if DVD is acceptable?

Peabody does hold May auditions for certain areas but I believe flute is not on that list. It is a bit confusing re: who they audition in May, there may be a typo on the info page since it says that all performance majors audition in February. The application deadline for May audition is April 15.

You may want to call Peabody if this is a school in which you may be interested to clarify if you are eligible for the later audition date. From our experience last year they were very helpful in the admissions office and Peabody has a very nurturing atmosphere.

I suspect that May auditions are for spots that have not been filled in the February audition cycle.

The NACAC list to which violadad refers appears in May and is taken down sometime over the summer, so you will not be able to find it this time of year.
