If your name is on the list, please answer the following questions:
What motivates you?
What are your goals?
How do you deal with failure/rejection?
What advice do you have to offer?
thanks

wow.. geniuses.

Greeeaaat....
I always think I have a chance at some Ivies and top schools until I read about people like them.

umm ... ewww

those people i think would not be around here so often because they're busy trying to decide which ivy to attend, while the rest of us ponders over which ivy might, (just might) accept us (by a sheer chance)

haha, eww is right. i don't see how ANY human being could manage all those activities, maintain those grades, while STILL having the energy and time commitment to be a football/basketball captain?

i want to know their secret, man.

i think they're taking some happy pills...anyone with me?

personally i think it's a little bit about being the luck of the draw as well as 90% perspiration, so I wouldn't sweat it. (no pun intended)

look how old they look....some of them are only 17 but they look 35

Some of these people are 16...wow....I think they had no social life. How can you be an international pianist, maintain a 4.0, and found a volunteer organization that raises thousands of dollars and does things all over the world, and then find more time to be student government president, play a sport, and manage a 2400 on the SAT. I would trade all that for a successful social life, which is needed just as much to succeed these days, unless you're a mathematician or something :P

i know one of them and hes pretty cool actually, i also know one of the honorable mentions, good friend of mine. they arent that bad, really.

well, nobody's judging their personality. i'm sure they're very nice, young people...but their academic life is CRAZY.

do you hang out with the one you know? i mean, does he have TIME to hang out?

I wouldn't be surprised if a CC member or two were on one of those lists in previous years. Seriously, I've seen comparable statistics on this forum.

well he was a grade above me, he was this past years val, im this years, ive gone bowling with him and stuff, hes seriously a cool kid, im crazy academically too but we have time to spare when we have to :)

piano89 - you never know when someone is on 'typing steriods', a term i use when people enhance their stats through artifical means. too bad its like HGH, cant test for it...

but there probably are a few on CC, i wouldnt doubt that

When you're rich or really intellectually gifted, you can do all of those things and still have a good social life.

Of course I praise the rich and the intellectually gifted; I don't envy them like most people do.

i know a second teamer from several years ago and shes just as 'normal' as any of my friends, though, come to think of it, that might not be saying terribly much. anyway, the only thing that really differentiated her was that she actually cared about her grades and had a passion that resulted in some pretty unique opportunities, which looked really impressive on paper. in my experience, the two concepts tend to be mutually exclusive.

oh, and she went to an honors college at a public university... by choice.

Honestly, theyre a bunch of losers. I wonder when the last time these people left their houses was....

jPoD - calm down, if you know every single one of them, fine, but i dont think you know any, so please dont hurt yourself jumping to conclusions. they might wind up being your boss someday...

Doubt it. Most of these people end up failures when they dont become multimillionaires.....
