Are any of you an All-USA High School Academic First Team member?

yeah those people do look really cool--i was going to say, there are a lot of good looking people on those lists!

1000+ posts before he even applies to college...i think id rather be an intel finalist or a USA All-Academic First Team member.

haha, eww is right. i don't see how ANY human being could manage all those activities, maintain those grades, while STILL having the energy and time commitment to be a football/basketball captain?

They deprived themselves of sleep to the point where they shaved 10 years off their lives

"a side note: i find it interesting that an overwhelming majority of the candidates did something involving science/math. is it just me, or is there a bias?"

I think is reason for that is the fact that there are more opportunites for awards/recognition in math and science compared to the humanities.

Of course there is. People in the world care more about doctors and engineers than they do historians and poets.

yeah sunshine...so these people may be impressive but there are tons of them in their fields...woohoo for humanities people!

also, historians and poets aren't the humanities counterparts of doctors and engineers. i would go with lawyers and politicians.

thanks jimbo

*the type of reply one can expect from an IVy hopeful sheesh

haha im not really an ivy hopeful...only 2 out of the 9 schools im applying to are ivies. yale and penn, yippee!

I know someone from the 2004 Honorable Mention and another from the 2005 Third Team. They're normal people, really. They often spend their summers immersed in those math/science projects, so they're not loaded with so much stuff during the year. That way, they would be capable of maintain excellent academic performance, right? :)

The thing I am most jealous about is that they seem to have focused plans for the future. If one gets that, the rest can follow.

i made a ALL COUNTY Football Academic team...hahahaha. does that count?
