I’m just like to know if any specific tests would be more worthwhile to take. I’m wondering specifically if Biology is as valued as Chemistry or Physics. I know there are some schools and programs that require you take the Chem or Physics test, but in general would I be just as well off taking Bio instead?
Depends on your major. If your going into science just pick the subject test that most closely corresponds with wha you are interested in. Also, if you are interested in chem and physics I would consider taking math 2 also just to add that to your resume, because if you can handle chem and physics you can more than likely handle math 2.
You can meet the subject test admission requirements for every major at every college that requires subject tests by taking math 2 and either physics or chemistry. Biology almost fits that universe the same as physics or chemistry except that the engineering college at Carnegie Mellon requires a math plus either chemistry or physics and thus biology would leave you lacking if you applied to engineering there. Otherwise if looking for other exams to take, check to make sure you meet any particular requirements for the major involved. Engineering and some science programs at colleges that require subject tests usually require or recommend a math plus a science, business majors and some others often require or recommend that one be a math. Math 1 makes it in most places but some require or recommend math 2 if you submit a math. You may also find some recommendations outside of engineering, science and business, although not stongly worded, for a test in a subject similar to chosen major (like English Lit for English a history for history). Also, if you have particular colleges in mind check not just admission requirements but what they do with certain subject tests after you are admitted, For example, Georgia Tech actually gives college course credits for high scores in Chemistry andf English Literature and there are others that provide credit for some tests and a number that will use them, particularly language courses, for placement.
For Integrated Science at Northwestern, you have to take Math2, Physics, and Chemistry. It really depends on the school and specific program/major.
It depends on your major and where you want to apply. Some schools specifically requires certain tests. If a school just says “a science” it doesn’t matter. But for example, an engineering school may want physics. Most places would like to see Math II since Math I is basically the math on the SAT, but some places may just say “a math”.
So it really depends.
