Like other than for college credit? Do they matter at all for administration to say like JHU?

Bump can someone answer my question?

Very selective colleges are unlikely to give you “college credit” for AP courses. What they are more likely to do is allow you to use an AP course to place in a more advanced course in whatever sequence is relevant. That may or may not matter to you. If it doesn’t, then you can probably skip the AP exam.

If however you would like to use your AP courses as a means to place higher in a particular core sequence, then the AP score is important. In practice, in this situation the colleges would like to see a “5”, and maybe a “4”.

JHU is a selective college. I encourage you to contact admissions and ask them for their approach to AP courses, and course placement.

As fogcity said, some use them only for placement, and don’t give any credit, even for a 5.

JHU looks like they do give credit though: [Johns Hopkins University Office of Undergraduate Admissions - Apply - AP/IB/Other Credit Information](http://apply.jhu.edu/apply/apib.html) However, it doesn’t appear that they give credit for Geo, Psych, or Euro, so it doesn’t seem like you lost anything with those for JHU credit.

Thank you I found this on their forum website

@iluvpiano Lol thanks for the confidence boast PS I am already studying to study for next year APs so I don’t repeat myself lol

What APs are you taking next year?

Also, do you have a college major in mind (not that you have to yet)? If it’s not something in the social sciences, Euro/Psych/Geo,etc. exams won’t matter as much as making yourself look good in other subjects.

^I am going to try BME (biomedical engineering) but the way I am going I probably won’t be able to get in.

Next year without self studies[ul]
[]AP English Lan
[]AP US
[li]Hopefully AP Chem[/ul]
[/li]

Thinking about self studying:[ul]
[]AP Bio
[]AP World History [/ul]

Idk though for sure but I know I am going to start studying like ASAP now lol :P

AP Bio is just memorization mostly, so shouldn’t be too bad.

For engineering majors, then things like AP Calc, AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Physics, etc- math and science APs, having good scores there will look most impressive because you want to show you can handle those subjects for your major.

^Thanks dude! I am taking AP Calc and Physics senior year
