Are AP tests important at all senior year?

i have the same question! i REALLY don't want to study for AP stat, and i heard it doesn't count at berkeley. i am in letters and science, probably an english major. do i have to study? pleaseee tell me no, thank you.

AP tests at Berkeley (except for counting toward C&R, Q, and FL credits) are only good for giving you extra units to count toward Sophomore Standing. Somewhere on the website it lists which AP classes count for which credits (either 2.7 or 5.3)... if you have 30 units, you have sophomore standing and can register for classes earlier and other perks. If you're close to 30, it's worth the studying time to get the classes you want next year :)

what if your not close to 30?? then whats the point?

what's the point of failing when u paid 85 bucks?

I am taking four: AP English Literature, AP Calculus BC, AP Government, and AP Physics B. Honestly, since I mihgt major in mathematics, I doubt that Berkeley will care about my AP Calculus score and have me retake Calculus anyway. Although, since I got below 680 on the writing, they are asking me to take a test for my placement in an English course. I have a quick question.

To me, the most important exam is English because I heard that if you get a 5, you can skip two English classes at Berkeley. Can anyone confirm this for me please? Thank you.

yes, you can skip both halves of the intro english class with a 5 on literature...only lit...only with a 5

Will you have a chance of having your acceptance rescinded if you fail any AP tests?

I think I'm gonna fail macroecon, but I don't want to study for it.

hey westow, AP awards mean almost nothing.........holds breath yeah they mean nothing. they don't necessiarly mean that you get to register for classes earlier, although the chance is better =P

They won't rescind your admission nanday0. Don't worry.

dmcwhiz123: well i guess it gives u bragging rights that u got AP National Scholar Award or something Lol... which boosts ur ego hahah.

westow: yeah, but everyone i know has it.............

then i say they are all overachievers... dont u need like 8+ Aps with 4-5 on all of them..

well, overacheievers or not, the fact stands, and they're all off at some ivy or at berkeley....................

http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/faq/ap.html

ap stats will count for Quant Requirement...

^ yeah but it also says that getting a certain score on the SATS will also...

I think I will study. Sophomore status ain't bad.

Btw, I resent the Ivy comment, dmc. Berkeley is the poor man's Harvard, I say. Besides, Cal chicks= hotter than any pasty, waif Ivy broads. California sun would do some of those Ivy Ice Queens some good.

Just to clarify: I'm not bitter at all.

the deadline to get a 60$ refund is march 27...and thats exactly wat i plan to do if theres no use taking the stat AP..i'm in college of letterse and science
