are all these B+'s bad? i took a really really hard courseload...

I want to know how the heck that is a 4.5 GPA. And those healthcare, emergency services, multimedia design, and microsoft office type classes aren't going to count when they calculate your GPA.

I say do really well senior year. The B+'s won't be a deal breaker, but you really do need to be strong everywhere else...

um, not to be rude, but that didnt really answer my question.

^that was to pihiplyr

o and if they are AP's as compared to lower courses, the B+ will be less harmful, but do remember who you are going to be competing against...so WORK HARD!

good luck

I applied to CAS with a 4.0 UW, and I was waitlisted/rejected.

Then again I know people with lower gpas who were accepted. So who knows.

u prolly wont get in to CAS, its ultra competitive these days, i would go ahead and apply to CALS for some science major.. my stats wer similar and igot a GT to a statutory school

Your SAT scores are a bit low for Cornell. I mean, a few 600s is okay, but not all. Remember, quite a few have a lot of 800s.
The same applies for your Bs too.

Unless your ECs are rediculously good to make up for your academics, you would have a pretty average shot at Cornell.

I think that you have a chance, as does anyone, but I don't think you're a strong candidate. All I can say is that you have a shot with a well crafted application.

Your GPA is too low for Cornell. There are way too many B's.

Don't get discouraged by people like pih (who probably doesn't even go to Cornell...lol I wouldn't be suprised [edit: I think he's going to UVA]). Just let it motivate you...work ur ASS OFF senior year! If people at Cornell are telling you that you could have a chance let it motivate you everytime you are bored in class to make you pay attention or when you feel like procrastinating, don't. Work for it and you can do it!

I had a 3.3 UW coming out of HS...don't freak out. if you're what they're looking for you'll get in. I think your grades are fine. not standout, just, OK. as in not a deal breaker.

didn't you go to a magnet school, sparticus?

if you don't improve your GPA then you need to improve your SATs

i didnt have great grades and similar SAT scores as you, but i was in top 10% and had great essays and activities and i was waitlisted and then given a GT

i went to a regular public school. it's in an area where many students are successful, but yeah, similarly to how spanks pointed out about improving your SATs, I had pretty good SAT I & II scores and solid extra curriculars.

LOL @ you thinking i'm going to UVA, that's funny.
