Are brown class dizes really small?

Are this school’s class dizes really small?

or are they big lectures?

I think it depends on the class; specifically the department and whether its upper level or lower level

It depends more on the need for its being taken for concentration requirements, the subject matter, and other things, if it's a pre-requisite, yes, the department etc. As far as upper and lower level, many departments don't really limit enrollment, unless a class is a pre-req. There are many upper class students lower level classes, and many first year students in upper levels. Class sizes can be large (over 100) or can be small. My D's first year seminar during the first semester had 6 students in it, but her literature class had around 100. Those big classes usually also have sections that are led by either TAs or by the prof, and will be smaller to enrich the class through discussions, etc.
