I'm a little worried about midyear reports. I think i may get Bs in two of my AP classes, and people tell me that colleges really look down upon the midyear reports if they're below Bs, but im not sure. I haven't been slacking off, yet these two classes of mine ahve been really tough for me. will this affect me negatively? thanks.

Have you been accepted already? If so, the B's probably won't do anything. If you haven't, they could hurt a bit, but colleges understand that AP classes are challenging. There really isn't anything you can do except do the best that you can.

Midyear reports really aren't that important. Even if you are RD. That's what I've heard.

I have all A's and a D in Economics. Ouch.

I have 5 A's and 2 B's. The B's are in AP courses which are hard. (Plus our school has grade deflation)

I think that colleges will be a little bit forgiving if the Bs are in AP or IB courses. They can see your list of ECs and they know that the first semester of senior year is stressful with applications and such. I was freaked out about a B being on my Mid Year Report, too, until my GC reminded me of all the activities I do and the courseload I have and the job that I hold. If there's a good "reason" for a B, maybe your GC can explain it on the Mid Year Report.

Either way, a B is not bad. If it were a C, you could be concerned, but I think one or even two Bs are fine.

I have a very good chance of getting my first B+ this semester in AP English. I have to get an 8 (out of 9) on the exam which is graded like an AP test, which will be hard. luckly she gave us the essays we are writing our essay on. I have to nail it though. I know I'm getting an A- in french 4 too. I don't think that will be all that bad.

btw i don't think pluses or minuses really calculate into college admissions since it is so firmly based on GPA, which dont take +/- into consideration

one B won't matter

+s and -s count in my school's GPA.

Colleges don't care about your school's GPA, they just use your school's calculation to determine how hard your classes are and how well you do compared to others...

MallomarCookie...do they compare with students only from that school or from different schools?

Gaaah....I just screwed up my English midterm. I'm probably gonna get a C on it...yikes!

I aced my gym final. lol.

Yes! I just finished my French final in like 40 minutes and I have 1:45 until school is over. Tomorrow isn't so easy.

Well, I got 4 A's, one B (French AP), and an A+ in a community college course, which might be in my favor if Princeton even cares. I was deferred ED, so I really needed strong grades for RD, but oh well.

What about this scenario: I got all As and A+s 1st quarter except for a B+ in AP Micro and AP Calc BC. But 2nd quarter, I think I'll go down to a B in Calc BC, but still a B+ in Micro, and As/A+s in everything else. Is that gonna kill me? I didn't improve in either subject.

urghhhh
I officially got my first B-- an 89 to be exact. (So close to that 90!!!!!!!)
But today rank was released and I'm still the same rank.
So hopefully it won't look too bad.

i got my first C last semester. i had a fit because it looked so baaaaaaad, but i eventually got over it. :P (i mean, it won't kill me...)

oh, so do the + and - really matter?
b/c i'm getting my first B- in AP Eng. sucks. I was still having a B right before the final....but...
