Leland stanfurd Jr college gets about 1000 applicants out of us around 14000 from CA/around, Another 5000 from the rest of the us.

Who spelled Stanford wrong?

Anyway, about 40% of Stanford's student body is from CA, so there is a definite advantage.

There is no apparent advantage or disadvantage. Stanford has 40% from Cali because around 40% of applications are from California. The relatively high number is caused by the fact that Stanford, unlike HYP, does not have that much competition besides Caltech and Berkeley throughout California. Still, HYP also get around 30-35% from New England area. Do you think being from New England is an andvantage for applying to HYP?

When you consider how many people apply from New England, yes.

I've heard that it's easier for East Coasters to get into Stanford (or was it Caltech?) and easier for West Coasters to get into MIT. So, comparatively, I would the closer you are the HARDER it is to get in than someone farther away, but the EASIER it is to get in than someone closer.

Eh, I hope that made sense.

OK. I was taking Duke for an example, which makes it easier for applicants from the Carolinas. Therefore, I suppose it varies from school to school.
