So, is it my imagination, or are more kids on CC getting their stuff done earlier this year? S2 has his ED app due on Dec. 1, and won't touch another one till he knows the results from the ED school. And he's not done with the first yet!!!

Yes, although DD had to have hers all done by the day after T'giving last year. Several regular posters this year are/have kids applying to a number of EA schools - so, lucky dogs - they are almost finished.
Don't worry, plenty of last minuters out there :).

When will he hear ED result? My D had the same plan, but won't hear from ED until 12/15 and had other apps due prior to that.

audiophile, I think the word is supposed to go out by 12/15 at Kenyon, which is such a reach that I really anticipate pain and agony, but guess it is better to get pain over with earlier rather than later. 'Course an essay needs to be written, and he has to get one more letter of recommendation, etc. etc. But, can't you just withdraw the other apps if the ED decision is positive?

Cangel, thanks for the comforting words. Need all I can get here! I followed your D's process with real interest and am glad she is a happy camper!

Sorry Momof3, can't be comforting. EA app went off 10/29, and the rest were turned over to the Application Guru at school today. We're all done.

Momof3, Don't forget that D. is applying to all EA and rolling schools, so we're not early per say, just want to get it all over with before we end up killing each other.

I have to chime in as a mom of a probable last-minuter. My daughter has two acceptances (to her financial safety and her safety), but the balance of the applications sit with partially-completed essays, scholarship applications unfinished, and audition music in a constant state of flux. My husband has taken on the role of the heavy (he got tired of listening to the bickering :() and has had a bit more success than I. At least we're now seeing solid attempts at essay-polishing, and I'm just trying to focus on getting everything together for Profile and FAFSA. The duct tape on my mouth is a bit uncomfortable, but it's a sacrifice I'll make if it means I can go for a few days without an eye-roll or glare.

wyogal, just rub it in a little :) :) Hey, I can take it. I am tougher than I was, doing this the THIRD TIME!

Thanks, Carolyn, we don't want any fatalities, that is for sure. Including death by cheerios!

Mezzo, good to have those safeties in hand! Careful with that duct tape on the face. I recently read that it can actually remove warts from one's hands!! Yikes! I am doing the Profile thing this weekend. At least there is one little piece I can control, controlling soul that I am!

Nothing done early here. Tulane EA is due tomorrow - not finished. Other applications - not even close. To be fair, daughter hasn't had much time to work on them lately.

(because my own mom is 750 miles away and I need some back-pats)

I finished three of my graduate school apps tonight... none are due until at least the second week of December! :D

Congratulations. Because we can all use a mom sometimes...

Molliebatmit: YAY!!!!! You go girl! Give 'em heck. Congratulations!!!!!

Molliebat!! You are amazing! And I know from the College Life forum that you are balancing a whole lot of stuff! VERY impressive!

I have been lurking for a while on the forum educating myself about college admission process. It seems that I am blessed with D who not only finished all her applications to 10 colleges by Oct 21/ my b-day/ but was admiited to 5 of them so far and got 2 great merit scholarships from 2 of them, Knox being one of them, which is my first choice. It was time consuming and she started her essays in July and had rough drafts of everything done before school started. I think it was best thing she did since once school started it was next to impossible to find time.

lindalana apparently has the child that we all put in an order for ;)

Yeah, there's one in every crowd.;) Congrats!!!!!

I'm with Carolyn...we don't want bloodshed around here. DD did two EA applications and one rolling. BUT now she is sputtering about maybe doing a couple of RD aps as well. Her first choice EA school sends notification by the end of December. The other EA school doesn't send them until the end of January. The rolling school...well...she should hear from them any day I would think. She will get the other aps ready just in case. All three she is considering take the common ap which is a bit of help...I guess...except for all of those supplements. AND she has a scholarship ap that has to be postmarked by December 1 to complete as well. She is going to be busy this week!!

lindalana,

Congrats! And welcome to CC as a poster!

ahem... and a blog on the mit website haha

Congratulations to lindalane (and welcome, too!) and to Molliebat - good job!

Cereal murder was avoided in my household tonight when daughter finally submitted her EA application to Tulane. It was the peer pressure from friends starting to receive acceptances that did it, I think.
