I've recently browsed through some college acceptance EA or ED threads (especially Columbia, my dream school) and it seems like everyone has 5.0s, 2400s, national champions at something, etc. Is that the norm? Or are CC kids on the higher-achieving end? Thanks.

The posters here are definitely skewed toward the high end of academic stats, and the high end in terms of how selective their goal schools are. You probably don’t see too many threads about the student with 3.0 GPA and 1000 SAT CR+M asking which of the not-very-selective in-state public schools is the best one to go to or if s/he should go to a community college first to save money. But those students are far more numerous in the real world than the students attending highly selective private schools and public flagships.

No.

lol, simply put nope. It would seem that majority of the students on CC have an SAT score of 2200+. if you’re in for a laugh check out urban dictionary’s definition of College Confidential

CC is absolutely a site that needs to be taken with a grain of salt. For Ivy leagues I’d say they’re probably about the norm. Other than that, no. The kids here are far above average and unless you’re salivating over Harvard, I wouldn’t worry too much about what CC kids are like.

Not to disparage any CC applicants to Ivies. You all just know you’re awesome already…

It takes a certain type of person to take the initiative to look up a college forum…

No, not at all. Like what MissGen said, take the stuff here with a grain of salt.

There are trolls… Lots of them.
There are also a lot of high performing students out there, a lot more than what people expect.
But yeah, dont believe everything here.

I’m a “norm” haha. Im only a sophomore so obivously I haven’t taken the ACT or SAT. I’m not in any honors/AP classes but I get really good grades. But there are mainly “brainiacs” and overachievers on here…but good for them.
