Are chance of being accepted ED better with Undecided or with a Sports Management major?
U of SC is my son’s first choice. She will be applying to U of SC Early Decision this upcoming summer. His test scores are not the best (New SAT of 1040, ACT of 24, only one time for both taking them again soon). Very bright and great student that loves to read, he’s just not a great standardized test taker. GPA 3.61 and quite a few extra curricular activities and heavy on the volunteer services. Also has held a part-time weekend job his entire junior year. Should he apply as Undecided or state his intended major of Sports Management? Are his chances of getting in better as undecided?
Please help!!!
This year you had to put a first and second choice for major. So I would put Sports Management for first choice and undecided for second choice. Then if you are not competitive for your first choice then they will consider you for your second choice.
My daughter was accepted with a 1200 SAT and a GPA of 3.7. Great essays, strong extracurricular with 2 varsity sports, scholar athlete, 6 AP’s, mostly other honors. She had Sports and Entertainment Management as her first choice.
Thanks for your info. Was there more than one essay on the application? Would you mind sharing what the essay asked for? Trying to get a big jump start on this process. Besides our son applying to SC, my daughter will also be applying to grad schools for Physical Therapy. We will be swamped with applications and essays. Would appreciate any help on the essay(s)!!!
