Are Chicago professors and students enthusiastic about their subjects, and how difficult is it to get a 4.0 at Chicago?

Yes.

Nearly impossible.

I do not attend the University yet, but even take the University of Michigan, who has a body of 25,000 undergrads - at the honors convocation, there were 7 or 8 students who graduated with All A's....which doesn't even mean a 4.0. And most, if not all, were from the school of education or school of nursing, not to knock on the schools, but just to provide a comparison.

At a school like Chicago, where making honors is about .3 tougher, and grading is supposed to be harder, go ahead and aim for that 4.0, but don't beat yourself if you don't get it

Interesting comparison there...

Average GPA here is a 3.26, which is just below a B+, which is very solid and a lot higher than other universities. Getting A's, at least in some classes, is quite doable, but getting them across the board is near impossible.

What are the hardest classes then?

The students and professors at Chicago are so enthusiastic that it's almost as if the gods are within them.

"What are the hardest classes then?"

All of them.

More like, there aren't any easy classes.

Most difficult obviously depends on your strengths and weaknesses, as well as the professor.

Word on the street is that drama is a lot of fun and an easy A. I haven't done Core Bio, but Phy Sci (Chemistry and the Atmosphere, Ice Age Earth, The Dynamic Environment, basically our version of Rocks for Jocks) can seem easy, though it's deceptive. Class average for Chemistry and the Atmosphere was about a B/B+

Huh. Maybe I should look into Drama for my arts requirement!

I know people who have had a lot of trouble with phy sci; I've heard astrophysics is especially difficult. Even natsci isn't easy; I know students who study but still aren't doing too well in that class.
