As a NOVA high schooler who really loves VT, last year’s admissions have spooked me a bit. My stats/ECs aren’t spectacular, so I don’t know how much yield protection would affect me necessarily, but I’m still concerned!! Is applying ED to the College of Engineering worth it, seeing how many in-state applicants didn’t get in?
Applying ED is worth it if it’s your #1 and you can absolutely afford it.
VT doesn’t get a huge amount of EDs. You also need to meet their timeline for documentation.
If you think you’re a solid candidate and money is not an issue, then apply - and make sure you get your other apps in too. What’s the worst that can happen? You get rejected - so you have many others as back ups.
