I have a Cappex account and I've heard of similar 'chancing' websites, like parchment. I don't really think these websites give an accurate chance at all of chances at admissions to schools (especially top tier Universities). Are they at all, even semi-reliable or am I right in staying away from the 'chancing' sections on those sites?

I might be biased, but I think it’s somewhat reliable only for the low-tier colleges.

Then again, how much better are the human chancers here vs. Cappex/Parchment?

No telling… my D got in everywhere she applied last year (8 colleges). Her chances at Parchment showed at over 50% at every school except one, even a couple of reaches. One school showed her chances at 16% (same as the average for the school), and she got in. We did go enter her results, figuring it could help the next person down the line.

I think some chancers with a lot of years of experience can give you a pretty good idea. Some… not so much. “I will chance back” is really not an offer anyone should follow up on.
