Are Comp Sci and APES Credit worth it?

Hello,

I have to sign up for AP tests soon. I am positive I want to take AP Calc, U.S History, and English. However, I am debating taking the AP test for Comp Sci and APES. I heard from a college at cousin that AP credit for comp sci will probably let me skip an intro to programming while APES will probably give me an elective credit at best. The tests are $87 dollars each. I don't intend to pursue programming but I was wondering if a COMP SCI AP credit would give me any sort of credit for college. Same for APES (though I've heard most don't even accept it). If they are worth credit, do you think it is worth the 87$ for each?

                                  Thanks

The way of thinking and problem solving that you get from computer science is priceless.

Computer Science, yes, though it’s good to supplement the class with coding in your spare time once you learn how to. APES, no. No college in their right mind will give credit for that class.
