Hello all. I was deferred from UIUC's priority decision and was wondering if deferred students are given preference over regular ones?

I don’t think so. Why would they do that? The only advantage may be applying priority/EA may indicate your interest to the school.

a UIUC blog post from about 4 years ago said 50% of those deferred were eventually offered admission; seehttp://blog.admissions.illinois.edu/?p=4221

Weigh that against the overall applicant admit rate of 63%

Deferred apps go into the large pool with the regular apps. As Mikemac implies, there’s a reason those students weren’t accepted the first time around.

Also, there is a reason they apply EA or priority.
