Are financial aid letters and e-mails a sign?

Maybe this is a silly question, but I've often wondered. When I applied to schools last year, I only received financial aid info on the ones I was accepted to, and received it either before or with the acceptance letter. I never did receive any info on the ones I wasn't accepted to. It makes sense to not send out unnecessary info to those that aren't accepted, due to the time and expense.

I'm sure it's just wishful thinking, but I'm hoping that because I received an e-mail from VaTech today regarding financial stuff, this is a good sign. :) BTW, it stated that awards will go out for undergraduate transfers on April 1.

Please...don't kill my hopes. ;)

Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Huh, I havent gotten any emails from tech since they sent me my application number, that might not be a good thing. The only financial aid papers I have gotten are this pamphlet from Miami but I think they sent that to everyone since it had instructions on how to fill out the Fafsa and stuff like that. Well if I dont get into tech hopefully you will, good luck.

while i was a freshman applicant, some school requested additional forms and reports and they still rejected me.

I'd say your chances at Tech are pretty good Katt. But here's some serious advice if you go to Tech. DO NOT live on campus...it's the worst idea ever...1...if you live off campus and you have a Commuter pass...you can park close to most of your classes...2...dorms are...disgusting...3...there's not much in Blacksburg so a car's a good thing to have.
And...Blacksburg's REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY boring!

Oh yeah...if ya go there and happen to take some of these classes:
Get Walcott for government, Amateis for Chemistry, Kotz for English, Kelley for Philosophy...Take Greek & Roman Myth to meet your Core Requirements for foreign literature (Papillon's the profes.)...if you wanna take physics to kill a science requirement...then change your mind immediately :)

Thanks, nahrafsfa! I'm not sure if it really means anything, but I just think it's a little odd that I didn't receive any kind of financial aid notice from schools I applied to last year that I wasn't accepted to, only the ones I was.

Sounds like you just hate Tech! Sorry it's not what you thought it might be. I hear a lot of students love it, though, so I guess it's just a matter of opinion. I already have friends there, so I think it would be ok. And, thanks for the tip on the dorms. They sound pretty gross. I'm looking forward to having my car wherever I end up. I hate always having to catch a ride with someone here at UMD.

Blackdream, this was only a notice e-mail from Tech. They didn't request any additional info. It only stated that they had received my FAFSA and to make sure tax info was updated if needed. They also said that all the awards would go out in early April and to keep checking my e-mails for addtional information.

VIRGINIA2004, I wouldn't worry about it. It's probably nothing. One thing I am sure about is that if you receive your award info, you're in! They don't issue awards without being accepted first.

VIRGINIA2004, Did you fill out the FAFSA? If not, then you wouldn't receive the email.

Yes I did a FAFSA.

Well, didn't you say you turned in your app late, or your scores? I'm sure it's just a matter of the order in which things are received and then processed. Hang in there!
