I understand you need to show the grades you receive for your first year of college but how about high school and senior year?

Also, my plan is to go to NYU Steinhardt for a year and then go to Cornell. Are there any cons or negatives to my plan that anyone can think of? I could go to Bing but i think NYU would be a better experience for a year and money is not a factor.

Will NYU Steinhardt have the courses i need to take? Is nyu particularly hard to get As in? Are there grade-deflations, grading on a curve. etc.? thanks in advance!

You are not “applying” for guaranteed transfer (GT), you are applying for transfer, right? GT is given during RD to students they didn’t room for.

As a GT it is important to match up Cornell required courses vs what is offered at the school you want to attend while you are waiting for the transfer.

As a regular transfer applicant, it is important for Cornell to see your high school final transcript to see how you performed in high school and your college transcript. Your first year college good grades won’t necessary wipe out your bad performance in HS (if that’s the case).

The question was if you are offered a "transfer option " as an RD applicant , do they still look at and consider your senior year grades from high school ( 8th semester-the only one they don’t yet have) or do they only look at your grades from your first two semesters in the college you attend before you request and they grant you the GT transfer

Off top of my head, I would say yes. The reason is as a GT, a student still needs to demonstrate he/she has continued same level of performance senior year, no different than a RD student. I am sure Cornell would want to see a student has actually graduated from high school too.

gomestar- what do u mean by singling out grades?

thanks bcaan that was EXACTLY wut i wanted to say! and thanks oldfort for your reply.

Cornellchris- my major is applied psychology and my desired major at cornell is HD. I think my major at nyu will satisfy the requirement but im double-checking with my advisor tomorrow.
