They got one at the community college i'm going to but they charge $45 just to get admitted. They have meetings and stuff but to be honest, it seems to me like the organization is just trying to sell merchandise. Anyway, to you guys/gals out there with experience, is joining one beneficial? advantageous? worth the money? all for having your name put on a list? Thanx

Its just application fluff really. Perhaps the only benefit of joining an honors society, is that you get to wear a pretentiously cool sash thingy at graduation. haha...but yeah other than that, not much benefit. So if money is an issue to you, I would not join. But otherwise, you've nothing to lose.

Agreed (10).

yeah, i thought so. thanx, i was wonderin cause i saw another previous post before mine talkin about it, some said it's worth it to join, some say not. By the way, I'm referring to one called Phi Theta Kappa.

no just a waste of time

Phi Theta Kappa is legitimate.

Yeah, I was in Phi Thetta Kappa. Oh another benefit is that you are able to get transfer scholarships through them (though I don't know how many they offer as I have not really looked into it)...
